trueSpace

Has anyone here experimented with trueSpace (a polygon, SDS and NURBS modeling application)?

Is it something you would recommend?

its a ship that needs a special 3d viewer, there are hundreds of different 3d file types and viewers
most cad progs had *.vrml out but that 3d viewer never came integrated with windows
i belive we better wait for that but game industry may not like to see the web go 3d

If I understand you correctly the only usable output from trueSpace is .vrml?

nah, thats not what i said, its an early 3d pioneer tho
here a very rough ancient sample, 3d interactive over the net,
wolfensteins castle could be a ship and high def like the 3d mobile phones

i mean direct 3d supported in the browser instead of using endless plug-ins

Now there's a ghost from the past! I've spent hours on that game, it was a killer in those days. They used a very clever technique (called BSP trees) to display the 3d worlds (actually they were only 2.5 D) at high speeds. They didn't use hardware acceleration, opengl or direct3d back then. Just clever programming....

Those Holomatrix Blaze 3D pictures/webpublications are quite impressive. http://www.aboutus.org/HoLoMatrix.com
