Transfer Files from Maxsurf

Hi,

A friend wants to send me a maxsurf file for a boat. Since I do not have Maxsurf, how can I open this file in Freeship? through Polycad, Archimedes? any idea?

Thanks
Best Regards

ask him to export the maxsurf files as IGES format and open it in Rhino, then export the file from rhino as VRML formal , then import this VRML file in Free!ship.

Thanks. But Rhino is not free, unless the import/export functions work in the demo version. Do you know if this is possible?

APP I would try going through Polycad as it imports of both dxf and iges both are exports from maxsurf. I think Polycad is free.

I tried this: I imported the IGES file in Polycad then I saved it as *.geo and then imported *.geo in Freeship, which does not open it and it says "The file contains no BSpline surfaces". I am not a softw expert so I do not know how to further handle this situation. I shall try the demo Rhino way to see what happens.
Thanks
