    Hi

www.thenavalarch.com launches the Ship Squat calculator

An excel spreadsheet for ship squat calculation.
A youtube demo video is here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3HBlw_yYKU

This spreadsheet provides two methods: 1. DNV, 2. Barrass
    • Can be used for both open water and confined channel situations
    • It also advises the maximum speed possible to obtain the minimum underkeel clearance (UKC)
    • It also generates a curve of UKC vs Ship speed
    • Immensely useful in navigation operations and in pilotage at ports

    Thanks!

I'm not sure yet which version of Barrass's method you are using, but
it is quite different from other prediction methods. However, as the
attached paper shows, there are some considerable differences between
    methods.

    All the best, for 2015!

    Hi
Thanks for the observations. The formula used is from his book Stability for Masters and Mates, 6th Ed, Ch 37, the first formula which is applicable for all cases. Please see below, the first formula is used. Understand there are other formulas which haven't been added yet due to lack of literature on these formulae, and will be added in next revisions. Yes, there are considerable differences among various formulae, which shall be captured in future revisions. Thanks and wish you a great 2015 as well!
