Rhino Marine Tutorials

Hi All,

Does anyone know if Baseline are still selling marine tutorials. The website seems to indicate that they only do Non-Modeling tutorials and not the tutorials for marine design. If anyone has those tutorials I would be grateful to hear from you and get your opinion of them.

Regards,
John

I purchased two sets of tutorials from them last spring:
- Modeling in Rhinoceros for Marine Designers http://basline.com/ModelingInRhinoTutorials.shtm
- Non-Modeling Tutorials for Marine Designers http://basline.com/NonModelingTutorials.shtm
Both appear to be still available. They are listed on the right side of: http://basline.com/Products.shtm

The tutorials are a series of .pdf documents and associated .3dm files. The documents go through the steps needed to create the .3dm models. The descriptions are generally clear for someone familar with Rhino. The Modeling tutorials concentrate on developing a model from a set of drawings though it does include one on creating a new hull shape. The Non-Modeling tutorials include creating drawings, GHS files and GZ curves.

I had previously done most of the YDS CAD course. The Baseline approach is different from YDS which was good for me. I always benefit from seeing different approaches before deciding what works for me in a particular circumstance. I wouldn't expect these tutorials to teach someone everything they need to know about using Rhino for boat design, but they can be useful either for someone who wants to get started, or someone who wants to see a different approach.

you can try ORCA3D demo and their tutorial. Its similar but more advance than rhinomarine , and the developers are former rhinomarine developers as far as i know. Now a days people use Orca3D http://www.orca3d.com/

May be some confusion in names. I assumed that John is interested in tutorials on how to use Rhino itself for marine design, not the formerly available "RhinoMarine" plug-in.

If John is interested in RhinoMarine then the Baseline tutorials would not be relevant.

Its Rhino without any plug-ins that I am really interested in at the moment, and in particular the Baseline Tutorials to get going. I did contact Baseline myself and asked about the sets that you mentioned DCockey but the reply only mentioned the Non-Modelling tutorials. I have emailed again to check but have a feeling that’s the only one's they are doing.

Just to clarify. I have both modeling and non-modeling tutorials available at

http://www.basline.com/Products.shtm

Also available are plugins, RhinoStatics and RhinOffsets as well as low prices on McNeel products.

I hope this helps
