Questions about maxsurf 11

i have a few questions about maxsurf. the version i've got is a rather old one, maxsurf 11.

first i wonder: is there any way to create surfaces manually, so that i can get the surface i want. (a triangle or quarter circle for example.)

Second i wonder, is there any snap function, like the one in AutoCAD?

third i wonder, how can i stop some surfaces from bulging in the edges like this:

Gunship
First question, you have a number of options under the “add surfaces” menu. You then change to suit your needs (see pic).
Second question, no snap function but there is the “compact” in controls, which can move points to each other.
Third question, show another screen of the control points with the control net turned on, rather than a shaded view, may help to show your problem.

Gunship both surfaces started as four corners with one corner compacted onto another. One also has an extra control point with a transverse stiffness of 3; the other is linear (see file). From the pic your hull seems to be in made up of four surfaces, not counting stern. Is there any particular reason for this as it makes it hard fair or have you used the tangency function? One surface from bow to stern is so much easier. If you could add some sections to the hull it would help to show the areas in question. When the control net function is turned on (see pic) it shows the columns and rows so you can see how they relate to the surface.

aha, that explains something.

however, @hull: when i tried to make it out of one surface, it turned out even weirder, and not really circular in the cross section, more of a V-shape, i dont know of any way of fixing that. it feels like there is something pulling the middle of the hull area in an akward direction.

OK, so in seakeeper, from the same old CD i got maxsurf from, im unsure about entering the roll and pitch gyradii. the default values are extremly high, (commonly 30/60% in contrast to the manuals suggested 25/40%), but i dont know how to get (somewhat) accurate values to enter? at least something that is remotley related to the design in question instead of what the manual says.
