| hi, first I should to know how you exported your maxsurf model to rhino, because I don't have any problem with it (export maxsurf model to rhino). here are steps by steps I ussually do to export maxsurf model to rhino: 1. export to 3D iges (and select nurbs surfaces option) 2. open rhino and import the iges file. note: also give attention with the units option. cmiiw |

| By the way, you dont have to use IGES any more to go to and from Maxsurf and Rhino. Maxsurf reads and writes Rhino 3DM files which is a better option as it preserves names, colours etc and avoids problems with units and so on. |

| HI: First, i use maxsurf14 academic which including function of exporting to Rhino 3dm file directly. Second, the version only make three surfase, so i had to model hull with chine by "compact" and "group" control point in one surfase.

| Lyqqmxm rhino does seem to have trouble with surfaces with compacted points done in maxsurf and trimming. You may need to split the surface up in rhino using the “divide surface on creases”,then do your trimming, then join the surfaces back together. |

| Thank you! Problem has been solved, but when i split the surface on the chine, each surface will appear multiknots on edge. i use "removeMultiKnotSrf" in surface tool but no effect. How delete the multiknots in the case of keeping shape?

| You will have to ask the Rhino experts about knot deletion but I dont think its possible to delete the knots without changing the surface shape, however the change may be minor depending on what the knot was used for. As I mentioned before, avoiding using those knot vector changes in the first place is the best way to ensure fair surfaces. |

| lyqqmxm here is another work around for the compaction problem. After taking the surface into rhino from maxsurf , show all the control points, pick one of the points of the two compacted and move it away from the other, it only needs to be a little less than a mm. Rhino then seems to be happy to then trim that surface. |

And wish Rhino invent a new shortcut command for it
