Problem with Maxsurf and Hydrostatics

Hi. I saw a link to here from the formsys help pages.

When I calculate hydrostatics as soon as i open design all is fine. However after a few small adjustments when I calculate again the window is blank. Table headings are there but nothing else!

Is this a known bug? I'm on the academic version (14.1)

Trying to design a 6mr by making an adjustment, saving, re-opening and hitting calculate every time is getting annoying!

thanks!

What version of Windows? Some people at our uni have had problems with Vista and Formsys academic versions.

Tried to install version 15 downloaded from formsys site however when trying to launch I get this error:

"failed to start because side by side configuration error occurred".

I can't help with that. maybe another problem at formsys?
Some of us here are getting pretty annoyed with Maxsurf. Their web pages and manuals tell us how wonderful they are but its now hard to even trust some of the results they show.

I just wish we could get one stable version between us even if it was a bit out of date. I have v13, others here have v14, and all have some problem. i would be happy with v1 if it didn't crash or cack itself in other ways.

I'll ask if someone is using windows 7 and has any advice on monday.

Was that error launching the installer or launching the program? There is an updated v15.01 on the academic site. If you are having persistent problems with your configuration, please email them to support@formsys.com and we will address them.
Maxsurf is fine on normal Windows 7 but not sure about using Parallels that way.

Sorry, I jumped the gun, v15.01 will be up in the next day or two.
By the way, although we don't supply online support for Maxsurf Academic, that doesn't apply to bugs. If you do experience what you think is a bug, feel free to report it to support@formsys.com and it will get dealt with quickly.

Looks like this is a problem with some Microsoft files on your computer being missing or not up to date. Make sure you have automatic WIndows updates turned on and latest Windows service packs installed.
See

for the same problem and a suggested solution.

Maxsurf Academic is limited to 3 surfaces. Real Maxsurf is unlimited.

An updated version 15.01 of Maxsurf is now available from our academic web site which fixed the above probems.

The download of Maxsurf Academic 15.01 installs and works perfectly on a Mac running Windows 7 via Parallels 4.

Maxsurf Academic expires at the end of each calendar year (eg MS 15 expires 31/1210) however a new version is always available for download before the old version expires.
