Hi JohnHeart

Do you use "Automatch" (or whatever the name is) to match the lines plan?

By the way. Do you all get the same nice results matching a round bilge hull forms? It allways takes me a lot of hours to fair the stern and sternpost. Thanks a lot!

Easyly, by using contours and then generate a 2D-drawing.

Elkano

Welcome to the forum

If you have defined the shell (as you would) then lines are very easily generated with automated scripts or even manually with the section command. There are also plugins that do this automatically.

Cheers

i can tell you about a software which can convert an image file to cad file(dxf)
you can scan your paper first then you can convert into dxf file and you can import dxf to any cad software.

here is the link:

Thanks pavel915

But that is not what I'm looking for.

I must convert old paper hull lines plan to 3D faired surfaces. I wonder if there is any software that makes that work easier. Long time ago I tried to use "Automatch" but it was no-wotrhy

Thanks!

Elkano;
if you have a lines plan in paper; then scan it; and make a dxf lines plan by image to cad software or by tracing on background image.
then using the 2d lines plan you can make the hull very easily in rhino using loft or networksrf command.
these are the minimum works you must have to do.

OK, I'll try.
