Native file formats

I am a graphic designer working on a project that requires me to know some things about boat design software. Can the shape of a station be expressed at any arbitrary point along the length of the hull? If so, what formats are available to export that information in vector-based files? Is image conversion software available?

You don't by chance know what software program will be used to design the hull do you? Most will allow you to export to 2d or 3d dxf which can be read by almost any cad/graphics program. Almost all will also give you the offsets for building, which will give you the information at least at regular intervals.
