My hands get cold

Sitting at my computer, my hands get cold and my fingers won't work right, and I can't...CAD...properly. Does anybody have any tips on this?

Try to keep the mouse on the table as near your bellybutton as possible. So the mouse between you and the keyboard at about 30-45 degrees. It takes a little while until you get used to move the cursor properly, but it pays.

I have used a mouse or a digital tablet more than 20 years and I had much trouble with my cold fingers and aching shoulder, but after I changed the mouse near my stomack, these symptoms eased up.

another thought I'v had re. ergonomics: (maybe not really related to cold hands)

How about an adjustable height desk?
Here's how it goes:
basically a normal computer/work desk, but with a big lever on the side. (kind of like a lazy boy)
So, one can work sitting on their normal chair for a few hours, then when the novelty wears off and the back/shoulder/neck/etc complains one can pull on the lever and the spring loaded mechanism will lift the desk to a standing or drafting stool height.

Cure: be more time efficient. Sure, easy for me. If there is any bar or ledge that the bottom of your fore arm touchs or rests on , you will start to cut off circulation only in that hand. Remove the ledge.

get yourself an ergonomic mousepad? with a silicon hump implanted? I use a nice thing called a spaceball 4000 but it is only used for moving, rotating parts and repetitive functions not for the drawing itself!

greetz,

to warm up your fingers might use a hammer and hammer on them this will warm them up, but it won't do for the good working of the fingers

Use some sort of wrist suport

http://www.transcriptiongear.com/TG_Store/WH.html

A space mouse is also a good thing

Try to write as many comands you can.

Personaly I tries to exersice as much as possible. I paddle 2-3 times a week. But it is important that you should not have any pain when you exersice. If you have see a doctor

Hi
- You may want to adjust the mouse senitivity in your System Tray
- Have you ever tried a trackball instead of a mouse? You can use it when you wear gloves with tips cut off
- I agree with Hans, type much
- enter dummy points, lines and circles to serve you as reference points, and make much use of the various snap-to-reference function

Cheers
Mike

I had the same problem and also had some pain in my wrist until a friend recommended a Contour Mouse. They come in a number of sizes to fit various hand sizes and also can be ordered left-handed. contourdesigns.com.

Keep the mouse low and don't let your wrist rest on the table.

Or, get a heated mouse.

http://www.theheatedmouse.com/

I thought about developing this idea until I searched for it and found that someone already had!

That's a cool idea. Nice, heated, massaging mouse would be better though...
