MICHLET Version 9.10??

Hello,

Can michlet useful for sea kayak?

Many thanks!

I have given the new versions to some friends, but it has not been released into the public domain yet. The new features in version 9.01 have some unusual "military" applications that are not of interest to most users. Versions 9.02 and 9.03 have new hull series (e.g. a 42 parameter series), and more constraints that are applied during optimisation, e.g. on GML.
I will try to release another free version when I get some time.

Free version 8.07 is useful to estimate calm-water resistance and for some preliminary design work.
Also, see :

Good luck!
Leo

Thanks very mach Leo!
I hope to use your works (michlet and godzilla) to optimize my kayak. Now, I start by reading the document "Hydrodynamic Drag of Small Sea Kayaks" that seams interesting,

It just compares some predictions of the resistance of some popular sea kayaks with measured values. That should give you some idea of the sizes and shapes used in real designs and reasonable values of the resistance. There are some other kayak papers at:
http://www.cyberiad.net/kayak.htm

Remember that the "optimal" hull you find using Godzilla (or any other computer code) will only be another "candidate" in your design process. You still have a lot more to do!

Have fun!
Leo.
