Too Many New model Files

Her is the correct file for the starter hull.

The other one looked too narrow when I saw the numbers!!

Things aren't quite that crook, Rick!
I just have to intermit my PhD for a few months and find some funds. No big deal. A mate came up with some work for me modelling a new type of water turbine so I'm Ok for a while.

As for things that might appear in Michlet?
I have a few things to include when I get time. Several people want empirical methods for drag calculation such as the Delft series and similar. I used to have Holtrop and Mennen as an option way back around version 2.0, but I took it out for some reason. That would extend Michlet's and capabilities beyond just thin ships.

The only tedious part for me (apart from updating the manual) is to make sure hull parameters in the empirical formulae are kept within bounds during the optimisation.

Regards,
Leo.

thank you so much.
i use the spline format for offset data.
i put the offset data in the csv file, but it is not working anymore.
could you help me?

i can not upload the csv file, if you can leave you email address, i can sent it to you by email.

Probably a dead thread now, but back to the original problem: how to get Michlet offsets out of a Rhino model.

There has got to be a way to get this to work, and I'm convinced that VRML from Rhino to Freeship yields garbage. I've been trying to get this to work for a few days. You do get a model in Freeship this way, and it does export from there to the Michlet format. Trouble is, a coarse VRML mesh gives you a surface that doesn't really match your original geometry, while a fine mesh gives you a surface that, when brought into Freeship and exported to Michlet offset format, yields horrifically unfair waterlines. The difference in my tests between exporting directly from Freeship, versus making an IGES of the Freeship model, loading that into Rhino, making a VRML of it, and loading that back into Freeship to create the Michlet file was huge- an increase in Michlet-calculated hull resistance of more than 10%, for geometry that should be virtually identical.

So if anyone has found a good way to get Michlet offsets directly from your Rhino model, please share!

There is a very simple process for importing a hull to michlet from rhino 3d.
Export VRML file from rhino 3d and import it to freeship , then from freeship export michlet file for a given draft.
When you have imported vrml file to free shp, go to project settings and set the principal particulars.
