Michlet on a Mac

I've been running Michlet 6.02 on my Macintosh under Virtual PC. I am interested in sending the money for Leo's latest version, but am concerned about it running on my system. Has anyone tried running post 6.02 version of Michlet on a Mac under Virtual PC. How did it work?

Since I never got any response on this question, I went ahead and purchased the latest version of Michlet from Leo and am now running version 8.01 successfully on my Mac under Virtual PC.

I have done a comprehensive test, but it seems to run fine. It might not win any benchmark competitions, but seems to run reasonably fast.

I've had a chance to run Michlet and Godzilla for a little while now. I have successfully made it crash by exiting michlet and then restarting it before Windows had a chance to settle down. As long as I wait a couple seconds before restarting everything seems to work fine.

The problem is probably due to Microsoft's DirectX. I'm just finishing Michlet version 8.04 which eliminates the reliance on DirectX. Instead of running only in full-screen mode, Michlet can now run in a smaller window which makes it easier to use other programs at the same time.

The demonstration version of Michlet 8.04 will be posted to my site in the next few days. (Nick, I will send you a copy of the upgrade as soon as I finish updating the manual).

Apart from cosmetic changes, I've included the ability to estimate bottom pressure signatures for generalised multihulls. It's not a useful feature for kayak builders, but those interested in how much sediment is kicked up by high-speed vessels, or those interested in mine avoidance might find it fun.

All the best!
Leo.
