| Michlet 8.05 Pro - Free again! Several users have purchased Michlet recently (or sent donations) so I have made it free again. Thanks to John Dixon who used the program to design some world championship winning surf-skis, and to the US Navy (Carderock Division) who use it for things I don't want to know about. You can download the program from: www.cyberiad.net/michlet.htm Have fun! Leo. |

| Michlet Leo, Have downloaded Michlet and found it to be very interesting. Great work. Im trying to learn it slowly as it is loaded with math. Needs some digesting. This is what i have been looking for as our country is dominated by multi hulled vessels, well, sort of. Most boats is a variation of a canoe with outrigger(s). Cheers, Rx |

I hope that you really need to use Michlet because it is not an easy program for beginners. As far as it being "loaded with math", all I can say is that I have tried to hide a lot of the mathematical detail. If you want a mathematically-inspired headache (my normal state) look at the reports on the pages at: www.cyberiad.net/wakepredict.htm Good luck, Leo. |

| Wakepredict Leo, Could not open wakepredict. All i get are blank pages. Maybe it is my server. Anyway, im still glued to michlet. Yes, its not very easy to operate but it is really impressive. I am trying to operate Godzilla. I did a similar work several months ago on excell based hull optimization using "design lanes", It is amaturistic compared to what you have done. It has a population of about 100 hulls and can only predict frictional resistance. It does however give me the optimum Cb, Cp, and range of length, breadth, and draft, and can be analyzed over a range of speed and displacement. I am still working on wavemaking resistance as the work requires analyzing fast hulls. If i can get michlet to use round (swath like) hulls for amas, then designing local (and popular boats) would be a walk in the park. Thanks again. Rx |

| Dear Leo, I would like to thank you to make this program available. I can see it will take some time to get used to the input routine, but I think it is rewarding. Cheers Rudi

Maybe your server is playing up - the "wakepredict pages" are definitely there. If you are interested in SWATH look at the examples that come with Michlet. One example uses demihulls similar to the SWATH T-Agos which was used in several hydrodynamics papers over the last 20 years. Some other examples use 3 or 4 demihulls in a variety of arrangements. All the best, Leo. |

| Hello Leo, I´ve open a threat about my doubt but I write you in this threat. I´m a spanish Naval Ingeneer that I´m doing my pre-thesis and I´m going to use Michlet for getting wave resistance in some study cases. I´ve found a problem that I´d love you to solve it because I´ve stopped my work in this point. I need to execute a group of programs (including Michlet) in a linux environment, into a loop (I will execute Michlet about 200 times in each execution with differents input files), but I don´t know how to do it because I´ve installed Michlet in a windows partition. I don´t know how to call michlet from linux, and I don´t know how I can use Michlet under a linux program. Thank you very much for your time and for your products. All of you are doing an exceptional work for the whole ingenieering community. If you don´t mind please ask me a solution when you could read it. Sincerely thank you very much again (and excuse my english). |

SSorry, but I don't know anything about Linux. I used to run Michlet in parallel on Sun workstations several years ago, but I didn't maintain those versions. Good luck, Leo. |

| Thank you very much for your fast answer. So how could I do if I want to execute Michlet inside a loop each time with a different input? How could I call Michlet to execute from another program? Thank you very much again. |

| Hello again Leo, I think I could call michlet from inside a loop if I close the program every time. The problem is how to simulate the keyboard input. how could I calculate resistance values WITHOUT pressing the keyboard? Maybe with some sentence in the input file? maybe with a command from the loop? I need to execute michlet from another program and I need to obtain the resistance values for a great amount of vessels, so I have to do it automatically. I know how to execute michlet into a loop but I don´t know how to do for calculate resistance automatically. I don´t know how to simulate pressing the r and w keys for calculating the resistance and obtain the output files for resistance in every case.. Thank you very much again. |

| Doubt about displacement Hello Leo, let me ask for a question for you. I think it´s easy but I don´t know how to do it. In your in.mlt example Wigley file after completing the points that define the vessel you have to write the values of this tree magnitudes. How do you calculate their values? Thank you very much. # Displacement Volume (cubic metres) 0.078658 # Length (metres) 3.048 # Draft (metres) 0.1905 |
