Skipper,
The markers are just a guideline for you in Maxsurf to fit a surface on. You need to add a surface over your markers. Go to add surface and add a box or something .You then need to size the surface to your marker dimensions. Here comes the most important bit. The four corner control points of the surface you added lie on the surface so you have to place the corner marker points on these. Use markers- snap control point to markers to do this. You will then notice that the surface is placed at the 4 corners of your marker points.
Try that out and tell me how you get on.
