| Manoeuvre Simulation Test Hi I am currently using Maxsurf software to modelling a catamaran boat. For the future, I want to simulate a manoeuvre test to measure the capability of the boat. The problem is, I did not know any software which can be used for this purpose. Can someone help me identify any software which should be able to run a manoeuvre simulation test ? Thanks |

| Unless you have hundreds of thousands of ringits to spend forget it. The is beyond the realms of most commercial software. That's if you want sensible results. Even then they are not perfect as there are far too many variables..all way beyond most "affordable" software. Last edited by Ad Hoc : 02-08-2011 at 01:51 AM. | That's cool how Ad Hoc knew what the currency is called in Malaysia. |

| Years ago I wrote a code with Runge-Kutta method for real-time mauneverability simulations ![]() Basically what You need to know is turning radius vs. rudder angle. This can be calculated by hand... For cat, the most tricky are a) hydrodynamic particulars of hull and b) asymmetric action of rudders and thrust. |
