TouchCAD comes with native versions for both Classic, OSX and Windows, and a license enables you to use any of these versions.

mackid. Later this year I will announce the release of LMH (Linux + Mac Hull Designer) a free, available-source design system supposed to be used by marine designers only. More details will be available on my website in the next few days. (hopefully by the end of this evening)

    Website: http://www.MarineDesign.tk

    Cheers,

    Tim B.

TouchCAD 3.5 is available NOW for both Windows and Mac (both Classic and OSX)

Cat by Nero, rendering done directly in TouchCAD 3.5

My apologies to those who have been awaiting the first release of LMH, unfortunately, progress has been somewhat slow recently. This is due to a number of reasons that I shall not go into here. I hope to be able to continue working on it towards the end of this coming week. However, I have up-loaded screen-shots onto my website for anyone who is interested.

    Many Thanks,

    Tim Brocklehurst

    Complete Newbie with CAD

So, I downloaded the TouchCad 3.0.5 Carbon... I am completely stymied on how and where to begin. I read the manual, but still have no clew on how to draw a simple hull in 3D. My question is...... is there a tutorial that will really explain this stuff for the uninitiated?
    Thanks,
    Frank

Yes, there is help at hand. Besides looking in the 215 page user's manual included as a PDF in the demo, which by the way includes a short boat tutorial, I also suggest that you check out the "Training" section of the TouchCAD site. Here you have a sixteen minute demo movie showing how to model a sailboat, including hull, deck, cabin, some interior elements, how to do do basic marine calculations, calculate weights and center of gravity, balance the sails, etc. Everything runs very quickly, but if you run it in sections, you can actually follow what happens in the demo.

All in all there are well over three hours of video to look at, covering both the basics as well as many practical how to examples.

PS The current version is 3.5.0 not 3.0.5.
