Import Sailboat Hull

I am working on a project where I have to model the interior of a sailboats construction and cabinetry. I have an iges file of the hull which I am importing into Solidworks for the detail work. This is my first project with a iges to SW conversion and I am trying to figure out the most efficient way to begin. Any idea's?

Do I need to clean up the imported surfaces that did not come in clean? Should I design in assy or part file, bulkheads, frame, interior?
