| Just my suggestion. It depends on the profile view. very often you have an angle between the back of the keel, where the rudder hangs, and the bottom of the canoe body. That's where it's logical to split the two surfaces. You can join them as a polysurface for easier hydrostatics. |

| Hello, What I can do is post the Rhino file if you are interested Craig by the end of today since I am modelling at the moment, my aim is to have a smooth surface so I can calculate basic hydrostatics, does that work? Regards Ivan |

| Yes, one smooth closed surface will work for hydrostatics, but it's often easier to get the shape you want with two or three surfaces and then join them to a polysurface. Fore example you can model the topsides and the keel with some space between and use Blend to create the third surface. There are many ways :-) |

| The other two views to compliment the body plan you posted above would be great. I can then see how easy all this would have been in Maxsurf and let you have some pointers if possible. |

| Ok I have a rough view of the profile, but its with a surface, I am back in the office and dont have rhino see what you think, and good advice i will try to use the two surfaces for modelling but I have not done any fairing with the lines they are still defined by decens of points. |

| Looks to me like you could do all that in Freeship/Delftship much easier than in Rhino? They have similar boats in the database. I use Rhino (great software!) above deck. |
