To build cruise boat you don't need software at all. You need good design, good boatbuilder and plenty of money...

Freeware I do prefere freeship 2.6 An awsome freeware program. And I also hope that the man behind do earn as much money as he deserve for helped many of us to understand the hydrodynamic and statics.
For further 3d-modelling you can use Google Sketchup 7 not the latest as they have disadded the dxf import tool.
And you are able to use this freeware as long as you don´t use it for commersial use

If you are planning to buy a software then I bet you find this if you searching around in this forum.

Good Luck!
Janne

I have found FreeShip a very convenient, open source boat design software.
Actually I have found it the most easy 3D modelling tool, so I am designing my house with it right now. Its wetted surface area is 1001.8 m^2
Of course I won't know more about boat design just because I have the software, or subscribed to this forum.

.
Hahahaha
Actually loved this post! hahaha

Maybe you should take a look at Sketchup also. You are able to export your house in freeship to dxf. And with the older version you are even able to import it to Sketchup. Inside Sketchup you are able to make meassurements and so on.

Though you will lost the hydrodynamics of your house.
Hahahah I loved this.

No. thanks.
- I make a point in using only Open Source software
- I find FreeShip very convenient and easy to use. I have and tried some heavy duty 3D modelers (like Blender, the pro movie/game renderer or BRLCAD used by US army), but I have found FreeShip the most easy to use.
