I found Seaworthiness, the Forgotten Factor, by C. A. Marchaj to be a very good book. The title speaks for itself. Personally, I prefer a rather round bilge but with less flare than in your sample and wouldn't go for only form stability like in sample C, not for an ocean cruiser.
