Feet, inches, eighths of an inch, sixteenths of an inch.

I'm not sure what xls file you're using, but if it's Bryan Hansel's I believe it converts fractional Imperial measure into decimal units.

If your table of offsets is in metric you won't need to convert the data.

If you have a good linesplan for the boat, you might find it easier to use the "background images" feature.

Otherwise, you must import the offset data in the X, Y, Z format that FREE!ship understands. You can understand Z as the vertical offset from the baseline, Y as the offset from the centerline (halfbreadths), and X as the offset from the boat's stem or stern (depending on the orientation of your original plan).

Consult the FREE!ship manual and study the sample text import file provided by Martijn in the FREE!ship package.

You can create points on your surfaces or curves and then export it as point offset file. It is easily converted to format FreeShip reads.
