FreeShip developable plates incorrect size?

Hi there

I have created developable plates using FreeShip (for a plywood hull) - but after closer inspection the plates appear to be the incorrect size - smaller than expected.

The hull is about 2.4m long, yet the longest plate shown is only 1.8m long.

Any one know why this is - and what I can do to fix?

Thanks very much
Tim

I have done a a few developments from Freeship or Delftship. Built a couple. All turned out OK at least to my ability to cut by hand. Usual tolerance within 1mm.

If you provided more detail it might help diagnose the problem.

I ran into some issues with it but it turned out to be because I didn't know what I was doing. While the model looked good, there were problem with my control points and how I had them arranged. When you turn on the grid veiw on the plates. Is the grid squares or are they stretched into none square shapes? I found out it makes a difference.

I should add that I only develop shapes that are developable. I also do it one plate at a time. As far as I know there is no means of nominating cut lines in Freeship.

Thanks for your replies.

I've looked at the model and it seems ok. But you are correct - it is definately something to do with a particular model - as it works fine for others.

The weird thing is that the first time I open the model it works, then after closing it and reopening it, the problem occurs - but I need to reboot to make it work again.

I'll try to attach the model.

Thanks again
Tim
