| Freeship, closed transom How do i create a transom in freeship that is closed so the hydrostatic calculations do not stop when the transom is flooded? |

| There are a couple of ways to do it. Method 1: Select the aft edge of the hull (where the transom ought to be), then click Edge --> Extrude. In the extrusion dialog, enter a small negative number (e.g. -.5) in the "transverse direction" box. Then, select each of the points on the newly extruded edge and set the Y coordinate for each one to zero. WHen there are no green leak points on the transom (or anywhere below the waterline) the hydrostatics report should work. Method 2: Select all of the green points on the aft edge of the hull by holding down the CTRL key and clicking on each point in turn. Start with any point, but select the points in a counter-clockwise direction (the order of selection matters). Then, click Face --> New. Select the edge of the new face and click Edge --> Split. Select the new point, and set its Y coordinate to zero. (Also, adjust the X and Z axes, if need be). Note that the edge from which the new face was constructed (the aft edge of the hull) will no longer be creased (a hard edge, showing as a red line). Select that edge, then click Edge --> Crease). |

| Extrude the aft edge in a negative transverse direction ie (- XXX). Pick a # that is slightly wider than the width of the transom. Once you have the new face, correct the y dimension of each point on the centerline edge of the face to read 0 (zero) and it will then be in line with the centerline of the hull. Here are 3 shots to illustrate the process. When you have the transom done then you can play with it. To develop it (provided it is developable) go to Layer properties, select the face and select developable, then you can use tools to develop the panels Steve |

| Thanks Bruce! Just followed your method 1, it worked fine. Thanks alot! edit: Cross post with Lewis, thanks both! Attached the model so you can see what i am working on, it is by no means finished. |
