My Cross curves calculation gives <-> as a result (exact those characters)?
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

At that particular heeling angle the desired displacement demand can not be met, probably because there's water going over the edge of the hull (sheer). If you still want to calculate it, close the deck.

It would be murder to try and publish a book every 6 weeks or so

Which, amazingly, is how often Martjin tends to put out a new Free!ship. There are some online tutorials for Free!ship; http://www.freeship.org is a good starting point for links. Generally though it takes a few weeks to a month for the unpaid volunteers who work on these to catch up, by which time Free!ship itself has already been improved. Easiest way to learn the program, I find, is just to play with it and see what happens!

Yup. I put together some tutorials on making keels and centerboards...and the next version of FREE!ship included a CB & rudder wizard!

Sounds interesting, moeed. If you want to make it freely available, perhaps the easiest way to do that is to slap a GNU General Public Licence on it and post it on SourceForge or a similar hosting service....

Here is an example using a couple of the new features in 2.6. The transparency function is wonderful and the symmetric function adds tremendous capability for visuallizing a project.

It just seems to keep happening. I was just thinking about posting a couple of suggested improvements to FREE!ship when a new version comes out and, here they are. How does he do it?

In this case "Select All" was on my list, along with "nudge" buttons on controlpoint form. Any chance in a future version of including the choice of which digit to nudge as in -

N.xxxx
x.Nxxx
x.xNxx
x.xxNx
x.xxxN

This would be very nice for some really precise fitting. Of course, it wouldn't surprise me if it's already there and I have just missed it??

Transparency control of layers is great, as is the transparent controlpoint form.

Have a look at the statusbar of the program. You'll see a small panel with the caption "Incr. distance: 0.10" or something similar. If you doubleclick it with the mouse a dialog appears in which you can change this distance.
