FREE!ship 2.3 released FREE!ship 2.3 is now available from: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=140466 Modifications since version 2.2: New features: * Show geometry info on statusbar * Added vert. prismatic coefficient in design hydrostatics * Lackenby hullform transformation (autom. adapting Cb,Cp and LCB) * Export NURBS surfaces to an IGES file * Split bodyplan view * Import and export part of the geometry as "parts" to a file Bugs fixes or improvements: * Improved routine for developing surfaces, also shows difference between the 3D surface area and the unfolded 2D area * Add switch for removing points from intersections (simplifying) in project settings * Export stations, buttocks and waterlines to (individual) 2D DXF file(s) with adjustable precision. (no diagonals, edges and controlcurves are exported) * Surface export to dxf now sends meshes instead of 3D faces for all faces with 4 points. All the other faces are still exported as 3D faces * Fixed error in intersections which caused loops in some intersections * Rewrote the entire VRML import routine * Added normal direction test before unfolding developable surfaces * Display the new filename in the captionbar after file->Saveas * Restyled the intersections dialog

When I try to export a (demo)file to an IGES, my computer (XP/2.2Ghz/512Mb) runs out of memory. What (probably stupid) thing am I doing wrong?

No idea, I've tested most of them. Which file are you trying to export?

Demo 2, 7, 8 and Peep14 1 of my own designs actually exports perfectly o.k. Just open then export. The computer goes calculating for +/- 3 minutes then shows message out of memory. Reseted the computer between runs.

I've tried them at my computer, but memory usage (including the open design) does not exceed 20 to 25 Mb. Do you have any other programs open? Try to have the windows task manager on top (ctrl-alt-del) and have a look at the processes tab. There you can see how much memory the application uses.

Memory usage tops at 21, looks like some kind of loop. Program status is "not responding" but actually running looking at CPU and memory usage. No other programs running but XP. Same problem is now reported at Freeship Forum. Arthur

| Out of memory Love the program!!! Excellent for my design purpuses, skinny beachcat hulls, especially in combination with michlet. The IGES export is the final peice for me, but I run out of memory... ![]() Is there any setting I'm missing? Any constraint on the models?? BR Patrik

I ran it at an old pentium2/W98 machine and the IGES export worked. It has a strange distortion in the foreship though. Arthur

Great to have iges export. In my experience with hull surfacing software (maxsurf, multisurf) the hull surface of a round bilged hull with no chines (typical sailboat) is in one piece. Freeship seems to export in multiple surfaces - this seems to be introducing unfairness. Perhaps it would be best to have one simpler (ie no bow stem round) but fair surface. Great program though and I am sure this iges export issue will be sorted out.
