Fluid dynamics software? Does a program exist that allows you to design hulls and then simulate how they float and react to waves etc? Like a physics simulator? Thanks

There are many...but the question is, are they any good? All computer programs rely on a set of algorithms....where do the algorithms come from and what limitations do they have (ie no point asking the program to give you results up to say 20knots if the program is only validated for 10knots).....so, you need to ascertain is, what "type" of boat you wish to be analysed and what kind of analysis. If you're after a large supertanker...yes the available options are greater. If you want a high speed planning hull evaluation..forget it....but, there lies a middle ground that may suit you for your needs. Which by the way, is what?

Nice tub ![]() ok..what is you want to "analysis" and and why...what will the output be used for?
