Exporting DXF from Multisurf to MAXSURF

Hi,
I have a project of a boat (akeswins 7,5m , visible in gallery) and the body plan, realized in Multisurf.
Then , the shipyard requires the plate-2d developement to build the boat in aluminium, but I don' t have the MSDEV developement for multisurf. However, I have Maxsurf with Workshop and I have to import my dxf 3d file into this program for plate developement.
How do I can it?
I 've already import this file in maxsurf but the software doesn't recognize this as surfaces , and I cannot work on it.
Anyone can help me?
Thanx a lot.

DXF does not do NURBS surfaces, you need to export an IGES file containing NURBS surfaces to read into Maxsurf.

Very Thanx.
I exported my iges into Workshop and did the plate developement.

The hull was completely developable, and I did also the ...paper 3d model !!!

Ok, this is nice for an A4 paper, but really I have to obtain the halfspan measurement . Exporting the 2d developement in a CAD software like Autocad or Microstation and then measuring the width(s) is a first solution, but it is slow and inaccurate.
Is there an automatic manner to have the exact numerical dimensions at every station?
(In workshop) ??
Very thankss

Go to Plate menu->Plate Templates and create a list of stations at which you would like girths accross the plate.

Go to Display->Structure and make tick Plates, Plate Templates, Plate Girths and (if you want some additional checking dimensions) Plate Diagonals.

Go to the Parts Window to show the developed plate and click the Plan button in the Parts toolbar (see where the cursor is in the following screen shot)

You should get something like the following screen.

Hope this helps

Andrew

I have an old Maxsurf version (9.0) and it has not the Templates option in Plate Menu.
???

I did Data --->Grid spacing , set the spacing
but the part windows has not the plan button and the toolbar.
Is there an hidden option that I must click to view that bar?

Thank you for your patience!
