Export IGES from Rhino

When I export IGES surfaces from Rhino, they open up in other programs without the surfaces remaining trimmed.
Is there a way of preventing this?... So that models opened in other programs appear the same as in Rhino...?

They should remain trimmed, I've never had that problem, it's likely an export options issue.

Bare with me and I'll check.

No, I cannot get it to repeat that issue with me. What version of Rhino are you using and what type/program-version of IGES file are you exporting to?

You're not alone. I often have major issues with IGES too.
Note that Maxsurf opens native Rhino files now, as does solidworks, that saves a lot of mucking around.

Sometimes it's better to export one surface at time.

Yikes!!
You've seen how many surfaces I have to export!!

No worries, I try to go from other programs to Rhino as my end point. Though I'd be a lot happier if programs like Maxsurf had better trimmed surface support.

It might not be much good for you application but you could try producing a tight section for your trimmed surface and then lofting the sections into a new surface that should import correctly. It won't be 100% accurate but it might work depending on what you need it for.
