| Designed frames for a boat Hi again all, I have designed frames for my hull and deck which are spaced 30cm apart in Rhino. Since they are just lines can I somehow print the lines out life size and then cut them into wood or will i have to get the CNC-ed or laser cut or something? How do I get those lines from Rhino to a piece wood? See attachments for the lines for frames. Thanks |

| How much do you trust the program to give you fair lines?

| JordieS getting the lines out is pretty straightforward but you need to do some house keeping. Its is always best to keep the centre line of your model on a zero co-ordinance or better still on the zero point for all three (I like to put point mark at that location so it is easy to snap to. Put the different parts on to layers so if you need to reduce clutter you can turn off the layers you don’t need. Now to get 2d drawings from the 3d lines go to the “dimension, make 2d drawing”, then in the section/ or what ever is your front view, select the lines you want and with the drawing layout “current view” selected. You should now see in plan view / top view the lines as a 2d drawing. Another tip is to create an XYZ cross of lines, one for the centre line and one for the base line, this when selected with the lines you want will give you a grid for measurements. See file (you can take each station off separately) |

| It's is more a question of the operator's skill and knowledge than the program. And that skill and knowledge requires spending time learning. Someone who is convinced something doesn't work will never learn how to make it work.

| Don't worry everyone I've managed to print the lines out but since I printed the frames out from front view I hope rhino didn't make the frames closer to the stern smaller since they are further away than the front ones, is this an issue anyone? |

| Depends on which view you printed. The basic orthogornal views which rotation doesn't work in do not have perspective and objects are the same size irregardless of the distance from the front.

| Ok so if I printed from the front view the objects will be the right size? |

| Yes, the curves will all be the same scale.
