| Delfship export dxf surf to Rhino to Maat Hydro+ Hi I have a problem whith Delfship export, when i export DXF 3D in fact, it's not a surface that i export but a mesh When i tranform mesh to surf in rhino, de dgree of surf is too important and the computer poxer dont folow, when i use the station for doing surface in rhino, the stations in fact are poylines and the surf degre is too high too, and i cannot reduce the surf. i want to export in IGES surf of delship ,to Maat Hydro + but the IGES are not surf but mesh. do you know the manipulation for export surf in delfship 3.6 Best regards to all of you Michel |

| You probably use delftship free; free version do not export IGES. If you use Freeship (same platform ), you can export IGES. If IGES is all you need, this will solve your problem. Regards.

| Hi Perm First thank you for your reply I designed boat allready in Delfship, and i would like to chek the stablity curves ans information on Maat Hydro + demo version Maat import IGES surf (not iges mesh) yesterday i try to import in freeship my delfship file but dont work i finidhed to try with VRML transfert file: freeship export mesh dxf, in rhino, doing surface export in vrml and import in freeship for export in iges surface for import to Maat i cannot import in freeship exept with a very low quality (mesh density) I try to validate my drawing before to present to an architect, if all the concept and details are correct i suppose that the architect fee are cheaper.. i hope |

| Did you try to export part from delftship? In case this do not work, it possible (if tedious) to manually overwrite point coordinates... I always try to have ABSOLUTE MINIMUM of points anyway. I am not in position to advice you on Maat or Rhino; hovewer, for Freeship there are many erxtensions, most of them free, able to do validation -hydrostatics, powering... I used Delftship at work, therefore did not ever need to explore full capacity of Freeship; Regards

| free version is OK for floating and upright stability. Not more, i.e. it calculates center of volume, center of flotation and meta-centric radius for specified draught; With some ingenuity and much handwork it is possible to cheat it somewhat, by rotating and trimming the whole model to different angles. In order to do it for heel to side, it is necessary to mirror finished model, and in layer properties uncheck the "symmetric" property. (save your original model in different file!) In case of any modifications to hull, all the cheating has to be repeated anew. It is very inefficient and time consuming way, however. More similar to work with paper lines drawing for extracting form stability data, as to work with real shipdesign software. I figured out how to do it, out of curiosity and because at I had lots of spare time then.
