Decks on Maxsurf

Hi there,

I was wondering how you guys design decks on Maxsurf.

Usually I duplicate the hull surface, then I flip it. Next I use the compact function to get the control points from the deck just where the hull's are. Then I delete some of the control points from the deck, because they're way too many. And flatten the duplicated hull, so that the boat looks like a normal one, not like a submarine.

This isn't the finall deck I use later, in the CAD drawings/design. But, I do need it to run Hydromax.

So, what about you guys? how do you do it?

Possible methods:
1- Make it flat or not there at all Hydromax should close the curve.
2- For a cambered deck use a seperate surface with an edge bonded to the hull edge. Cambering can be done properly using the description given for arc surfaces in the manual with a point mid between. The Cos function is a pain to implement seperately for each control point staion but it can be done.
2- Try using a "Sheer trimming" surface and trim it. I find it best for new designs as you can change the sheer without altering the current hull shape. Could be cambered too.

Any other ideas?
Brett

Thanks BrettM,

I'm going to practice your methods and see how it goes. I might post some question later

Cheers
