Curves in Ashlar Vellum Graphite

I have been learning by trial and error how to use Graphite.

I am currently trying to input a plan from a drawing, and am having a very hard time with the spline curves.

For instance, I am trying to draw the sheer curve. I input a multipoint spline, then try to get the points to the offset points I have from the drawing, and the spline goes completely wacky.

What am I doing wrong?
