I need some help with Tutorials. Whichever software has the best, or most watchable video tutorials? I can learn from lecture if the Speaker is staying on the subject and dont waggle the pointer around as he speaks. How some of those Dorks on YouTube think a listener could follow what they are saying is a testimonial to their lack of Adult Super vision. Which of the programs listed in this thread has the best tutorials?

The other problem is that the one I use may not be the best, because I just use what seems good to me. I haven't made a serious attempt to get familiar with every app on the list, so I can't comment on which one really is best. Having said that, Delftship free version does seem to be very good. The one big drawback with it is that lack of any stability calcs. I seem to remember some bloke telling me that those weren't design software but hydrodynamics workbenches. ![]() Anyway, allowing for the fact that they can be useful adjuncts to design I'll agree that Michlet and Godzilla can be very handy. I haven't had a need to try Flotilla, etc yet. Last edited by NoEyeDeer : 01-10-2011 at 06:20 PM. Reason: Added a comment. |

The thread is good for the guys who can operate those programs. They'd know how to eval all the programs based on their experiences. I'm still trying to learn Graphics. So I asked the guys who work with these programs, if any of them knew which ones had a Video tutorial to help with the learning process. Long ago I downloaded DelftShip Free . I just never got going with it. Accidentally I came up with some pretty interesting drawings though. I wish there was a Video Tutorial, or a set of Tutorials to help a beginner with a learning process.

I don't think you'll have much luck. Some of these apps were made before vids became common or popular and haven't been updated for quite some time. The others seem to be made by people who don't have the time and/or motivation to make complete video tutorials for every aspect of their app. I found the Delftship manual to be pretty good but like any new app, learning how to use it does involve a certain amount of swearing. Given the abilities of the application it has to be reasonably complex in some ways.

Thanks for your wisdom NoEyeDeer. (cool handle) I guess I'll keep looking. I'm sure disgusted with all the clatter on YouTube they call Tutorials. Even some of the "owners" like Gimp, Pencil and Sketchup have crappy tutorials. Oh well...

The concept of free is straight forward, no perceived cost involved, but how much value do you put on your time trying to learn a program that does not have good/any tutorials. Low cost is also relevant and again will depend upon how you value your own time learning. Thupucker Orca 3D (used in conjunction with Rhino) not free software but they do offer video tutorials on the website and there are tutorials on U Tube as well
