There is a free DXF library of various parts, which as I remember is somewhere near the QCad site. I can't remember whether it's on the site or whether there's a link to it. You'll just have to search around the web a bit.

Go to the McMaster-Carr website. Many of the items they sell (fasteners, etc) are downloadable in a variety of 3d and 2d formats.

Be advised some of their files may not be perfectly correct, so if you are working with close tolerances be careful.

This is a good site for CAD files of hardware.

Have a look at this site:

http://www.freecadapps.com/swcategor...0&orgvalue=ACM

I once found an AutoCAD Add-on that draws nuts and bolts here. It is called DDMECH by MechSoft. Its a great little piece of software, but it looks like the company has folded.

I did notice a number of AutoCAD add ons that promise to draw fasteners. If I find the time and ambition, I should download some and report my findings.

Eric.

Not free, but does a great job. It is parametric, does all views and also steel shapes.
