Questions about tranverse frame

Hello,

I have few questions about the calculation of tranverse frame when I use ABS ORY or ISO rules.

1) How calculate the pressure (before factor Kl et Kar) ? The rule said this pressure correspond to a point situated at mid-length of the frame, but it is the mid-length of the chord OR the mid-length of the girth ? It is not always the same !

2) The ISO rule take in account a curvature factor, and the ABS not : can I said that the ABS SM of a frame is too strong ?

Thank you by advance

Best Regards

Jacques

1. I suggest using the more conservative of the two locations.

2. No! Never "mix" scantling rules. Choose the appropriate rule for your application and stick with it.

I agree. Mix and matching rules is not a good idea.

Thank you very much.

But it seems to me that ABS ORY is more "severe" that ISO in few domain, for exemple in case of grounding (for a boat of 10m, the impact force is 1.5 * Displ. vs 0.8 * displ.).

Good evening

Jacques
