Bureau Veritas rules download

Hello everyone

Bureau Veritas May 2008 rules for Yachts.

For the moment at least it is free to download, and or browse at:

http://erules.veristar.com/dy/app/bootstrap.html

be sure to follow the links down through each sub chapter or you just get page 1 they are nested trees of pdf documents.

I have never used this society before since they are not present here but looking over their approach it seems detailed and thorough. I presume this is all fully compliant with ISO

That now makes GL ABS and BV free for smaller vessels.

Thanks Mike - great that they are providing these for free - pitty they don't allow you to download them as a single file though!

Even better would be to release a spreadsheet or program with the whole lot set up. It would encourage many more people to use their service.

I'm just going through it now, it covers catamaran specific loads too and I like the approach so far.

cheers

Yes - I haven't had a chance to look at it yet - let alone download each of the files.
Sadly, I doubt we'll ever see the day when any of the classification societies provide a spreadsheet for free.... Quite what their thinking is I can't fathom - as you say, their main objective ought to be to encourage the use of their rules / services....

I downloaded all of these yesterday and renamed the obscure file names with the appropriate section titles from the document itself, 68 files in three folders.

I presume that since these are put into the public domain by BV that I could provide them to anyone who wants them but would appreciate any comments on this point.

I am also going to try and incorporate these in the 'Catamaran Parameters' spreadsheet provided by member terhohalme

Andy

Hi Andy,
Thanks for your effort. I'd be quite keen to get those renamed rules from you if you've already taken the time to go through and rename them!
Cheers
Stefan

Warships are not built to Society rules, though of course they are based on them.

imrankhaled:

I believe that the US Navy is beginning to use ABS to class some of their high speed vessels (though not fully--they are only focusing on certain aspects of design, as I recall), so I would see if they've got anything. All of their rules are available for free if you register at www.eagle.org--but as far as I know, there is no dedicated set of rules for any sort of warship. High speed craft rules should suffice for a large part of a patrol vessel's design, and this I know ABS does have.

Cheers
