Recycling old Contender molds???

So what's the real story here. As scary as it sounds, I was cruising
Hialeah, Fl this past weekend and came across the "Competition
Boats" factory (http://www.competitionboats.com). - I stopped, got
out and took a quick peek. DUDE - THESE ARE OLD CONTENDERS - from
top to bottom, without a doubt. Every square inch is just like my
old 1996 25' Contender – same weight / size / fuel and beam. I know
Contender switched the 25's transom from a closed w/ bracket to
integrated transom's in 99-00. I figured Contender just reconfigured
their older mold and continued to use it.. Is there anyway Contender
got rid of the older molds - (as suggested by the guy at Competition
Boats that I spoke with who said "they are mostly the same boat as
the old Contenders") –

Do semi-major boat companies have more than one mold - what happens
when they re-design. Would they have just sold off one of the
greatest 25' molds in the Sport Fishing world?

Also - to note - the 25' with twins, very well equipped (to
include an OUTSTANDING wiring job) was quoted at 50K w/ trailer.
CHEAP?
