| Sociologicaly speaking, i think Occidentals will work more easily with Russian than with Chinese for such projects. Now human are all exception individuals, so in practice any figure case is possible. Anyway, another important point is that creativity is deeply contradicted and shut down by lack of freedom. Making a boat need a lot of creativity ... |

If you just want to save some labour cost go to Turkey. The quality is very high, the cost still much below Europe. I have my yards in Turkey and I know why, but do´nt make sailing yachts. If you need further assistance here in Turkey let me know, you´re welcome. Btw. Maltese Falcon was built completely in Turkey under Perini Navi Supervision. Regards Richard |

| One off or serie ? If not a serie but a single unit, China will not have the best advantages to offer. One off is an invention, invention requires freedom. With such a size project sailing boat, you will quickly find new friends to help you Good luck ! |

| If You are looking to build 60-70 footer maybe Nikolaev and Kherson (both in Ukraine) are the places to look at. Yards there are known to build few boats every year, mostly in steel and also in wood, good quality of finishing, manufacturers of deck hardware/sailing rig are available locally. I am not aware about sailing yachts of this quality/size built in Russia. China does no seem to be proper place for building custom sailboat even with supervision. |

| Hey I'm only a passenger here but I would suggest that Poland, Turkey or Latvia would be more suitable markets to source yachts. |

| Carlsson, Unfortunately China is certainly not to be recommended for a large custom boat unless you have had much experience working both with them and the yard in particular. I work there for a living, have been to many yards, so I am not just speaking out my bum. In time there will probably be a chance, not yet i am sorry. Try getting any chandlery to suit a private yacht and you will see just one of the problems, basically it all has to be imported to control quality and supply, so no savings there anyhow. Finish quality can be achieved, but I personally guarantee that you need full time supervision by people that have worked there before and can handle the "Asian ********" that will be an everday feature of life whilst the build goes on.

| There's a yard thats made one-off cruising yachts for years out of Riga (I didnt realise we had to hit the magic 60'-70' foot criteria so specifically) and another I heard making 35' trimarans. If you have such experience you can tackle a bigger job. |
