It is an excelent test for candidate boatdesigners.
You ask them what they think about it, candidates who say that it's cool can be picked up by the psyciatric ward of the nearest hospital.
It is brilliant, it is all about safety and common sense.
The designer is a genius, just don't go and(attempt) to sail across the duckpond with it.

I think you hit the nail on there head there Rurudyne. Exotic lines and complex structure aside, it looks like a death trap. Imaging having to walk/crawl/climb about this vessel to perform any sort of task.

In any case, it would be interesting to see it built and the theory of operation tested. You'll be surprised at the amount of money people toss into projects to fulfill a dream.

I remain very skeptical that something will be built which retains much at all of what is drawn in these fashion concepts. These are the boat version of concept cars for the auto shows. They aren't cars for the street, only the show.

Here's a quote on this year's Detroit auto show that is accurate:

Or entries from a past LA show:

It might be built for display here:

Looks like something from a Star Wars battle scene.

Lose the ridiculous propulsion unit wings (and give up on flying? Is that the one they showed pictures of it flying?) in favor of a pod type arrangement and it's basically an absurdly deep keeled displacement powerboat ... which is to say it would only suck.

If you ask me, and no one ever does ;), if you're gonna commit computer facilitated artistic ************ why not do something that's at least technologically feasible ... like a 300' to 600' wingspan ekronoplan?

I wish I could find the original thread on it. Does anyone know what the thread was called?

Until we see a sea trial of a prototype these concepts will go into the library of digital harbor queens. Nice to look at, but they aren't going anywhere.

Ouch, put on the shades. Those curves are too sexy.
