Why do you guys say these things. It's just bait and they'll just stomp on you again.

See that is real bad design.
Function of this Hellwig Panther made in east germany
.
Every little wave will overflow the boat while the boat is going slow .

Best regards

Hy Frank,
I mend ; the terrible function of boat which came from the keel and construction design
It is realy bad design when a 4,5 m boat is not able to take a half meter wave wile it is going slow.
The cadilliac-fin design on the boat is well done and many people are loving the panther, but awful to be in the boat while the boat is not gliding.

In boat design the function is nothing to discuss, the form can follow whatever she will but never make a boat dangerous.

Acually I am building something looking little bit like that,But the hull will lay better in the water.
have a look here if you wish
runabout made out of firewood
Sorry english is not so easy for me.
Best regards erhard

Bad design? Could be. It does seem to have a broad, heavy stern....

It looks like a small boat with a lot of weight in the front, and I would agree
that it is not good . Is that the motor in the middle , maybe the distribution of weights is not good .

I made the same remark a few days ago about another German boat. I did not say it was a bad design, however. I thought it was pretty cool.

Here is another example of a bad boat design:

I think the 59 Impala was cool , but they did get lift from those fins at high speed .

I don't wish to dwell on such a controversial topic, and I apologise for not having seen it elsewhere, but perhaps you could post a pic of this mystical skiff of your Loveofsea....

Frank,
Difficult to say much from the images you've posted, but two things spring to mind immediately. The first is the already discussed extreme amount of hook in the bottom. It would cause pretty significant dynamic instability - even at quite low speeds. Effectively altering the shape of the bottom can be done already... with trim tabs. They are simple, inexpensive and effective. No poit trying re-invent the wheel with something that's bound to be the opposite on at least two fronts.
The chine shape appears to be somewhat extreme, particularly up forward. Angling chines down at more than about 3 degrees can actually make a boat wetter. It will also tend to make the ride harsher and can tend to make the hull dig in. Combined with the hook bottom, I could imagine this being a nightmare in a downhill run....
Lastly, on the aesthetic front, I agree, that triangle sitting on the deck doesn't appear to fit with any other aspect of the boats shape.

I hope my new euro nove is more to your liking, I have made all the changes you have suggested, and converted it to a tunnel drive . the fins were added to give a subtle retro flair, very attractive if I do say so myself. i hope you approve and that we can come to an agreement on the final design soon.

Has anyone considered that the boat in the video was designed to stuff the bow? Search for SeaDoo Challenger on Youtube. I believe that is the boat in the original video. As I recall the Challenger has two jet drives. When you dump the buckets into reverse at speed the back end naturally rises on the jets and stern wave and the low bow drops and momentarily buries itself, filling the shallow self draining cockpit. The boat will also do 360 and 720 degree turns due to it's flat bottom and differential thrust from the two jet drives. So it seems the boat performs as it is supposed to whether you like that behavior in a boat or not.

Carry on!

I am actually a professional fisherman and I can assure you, you have not been out in 50+ knots of wind without taking green water over the bow, unless you were actually in a small lake, not the ocean. Anyone that has actually been out in these kind of conditions would know I am right. There would be whitecaps bigger than your skiff.

It is your kind of boneheaded arrogance that gets people killed, attempting to rescue people like you!

The worst I have been out in is 70 + knots on the boat in the pic,(grey wheelhouse) your skiff would fit inside this boat 10 times over. She took green, white blue water completely all over her from every angle. Some of the whitecaps were twice the size of this boat.
