I love your boat. Only half of it though .. the fwd end. I'd like to see a double chine sampan type chine aft. Taken that form aft do you think it would have enough stability?

Billy Atkin described it as a Colin Archer type ketch. But functionally, it's almost a yawl rig. The mizzen is more for control than for drive, I'd say.

That sir is a huge insult. I have been towed 3 times in the 90,000nm that i have traveled the open seas with a tiller in my hand.


I have spent over 750 nights alone in an open 19ft home built skiff since '91, virtually every trip 60-100nm offshore. So with equanimity i will tell you that untill you have achieved that level of real-time experience, you have no business insulting me.

When it comes to running the seas, you aren't even in the same league...

Wow you have spent over 750 nights at sea? Big deal, if you want to turn this into a pissing contest then my estimate of nights at sea would be somewhere in the several thousand nights at sea. So I think the one needing to reach any kind of real time experience is you!

So you've run seas a couple times hey? Again big deal that happens to me several times a month. I do however agree with you about not being in the same league as you, you have a long way to go to get anywhere near my league!

Having now seen pics of your good skiff tho I must change my opinion, I would have the bow completely buried in the first tenth of a mile!

To the other forum members I must apologise for this however I can not just let this crap go as it is usually me or my colleagues that have to go to the rescue of idiots such as loveofsea who think that they are invincible at sea. Which in turn makes other idiots think they can do the same with their boat.

And what in the world makes you believe that being a skiff owner makes you a superior salty over professional fisherman...
If I may suggest, without any fence, that you should think a bit about your posts. Not saying nothing against freedom of expression etc... but.. you have no business insulting others either..
Anyway we (the others) have the option to put you on our ignore list so we don't hear the constant trolling

Its impossible to have been out to sea when its rough and not take green water over your boat when a wall of green comes to you even if your stopped as the waves are usually travelling at about 12-14 kts.
Its certainly survivable in any small quality boat but it would have been rolled many times...
