Wooden boat design issues

I am doing an A2 product study into clinker built, cold moulded and strip planking boats.

I am wondering about the design issues that you face when drawing up plans for these types of boats. For instance, how would the stability of the boat change if the depth or width of the boat were changed? Would the location of the centre of gravity be required when positioning masts or seating etc? Any other sorts of issues would be great !

Thanks
