A boat, or vessel in general, I feel, is called a "she" because they take a lot of upkeep, consume a lot of $$$, and are many times very hard to understand. But we still love them beyond all else.

Load of rubbish - where pray does the wind come from on a sailing vessel? Primarily from the stern, where the skipper/master/captain and their officers are - the last thing they want or need is some little sailor covering them (and of course himself) with unwanted liquids!

Right Mike. I'll add that traditionally, sailors were prohibited "aft the mainmast" unless there specified duties took them there. That was officer's territory.

I wish I was flying into London my next trip over, mainly so I could hook up with you & Trev. In other ways though, I'm happy to be flying into Manchester. The pace of life in London was a little to fast for this country boy.

We'll definetly get together once I move over late in the year. My woman has two sisters in London & I'm sure we'll make several trips a year down there.

The Vikings still say "Bound is the boatless man".

I am bound, completely boatless, oh woe is me!

Can any body help, or is it simply too late now?

I disagree, I find all of the vehicles I own with tires (or Tyres) are far more reliable, predictable and less costly than the other two.

Have your family/tribe/friends prepare your funeral ship and pyre; place you on it and light the fire; then set it adrift. Oooooops, no funeral ship. Well you can always stay on this forum. Don't need a boat to participate here.

something they forgot to add to the list of why they call a ship "she": when you take them on long trips they give you trouble.
