Speaking of the original Great Barrier Express, has anyone reading this ever sailed one? I think it's just a tremendously handsome design, and one I might be interested in.

A friend of mine had one that he finished from a set of moldings from Pilkingtons and i sailed on it a couple of times, once with Malcolm Tennant, the designer, they are of course a great sailing boat. I actually have a set of plans around here somewhere for the original build in cold molded ply. You are right, they were one of the earlier cats of that type and much better looking than the stilletto imho.

from an owner of a little barrier trailer cat

I purchased a little barrier in 2009 and had it shipped from Australia to the US. An article in multihulls magazine by Jo Dubal was written about this. In any case, it's an amazing and unique trailer-sailor. I know they have not been built since 2005 because the factory burned down in Australia, and the builder retired thereafter. I believe less than 20 were built. It is unfortunate that an American (or Australian) builder doesn't take up the unique design. It is fast, sails flat, trailers legal (2200lbs trailer + boat- It was weighed for shipping), has a full size bed, huge cockpit, sails dry, and the tramp up front is a blast. I would be happy to supply more information or pictures to anyone interested.
