The single best yacht? I can't even tell you what my single favorite shade of blue is! The nice thing about design is that there is no single best answer. Although my particular interest at the moment is directed to multihulls, wave piercers, and performance yachts, I also see beautiful designs of many different styles. A perfect solution depends on the problem at hand.

The most popular yacht in terms of sales? How do you define a 'yacht'? If you're looking at motor boats over 25 feet and sales during the past decade, for example, I would have to guess that it would be a mass produced boat like a SeaRay or more likely a Bayliner I'm not sure about a single model... time for some research.

Best Yacht ever made

A Cal 24. I was told this is a better boat to get than a MacGregor. by some "old-timers". All I can say is that I'm having a lot of fun, and have done a fair amount of coastal ocean racing, eg. Marina del Rey to San Diego, Catalina and back, Santa Barbara to King Harbor, etc. as well as ugh:"beer can racing". I,ve won more thatn my share of trophies already. Anyway, this boat is about all I can't afford, and its low enuf to the water to be real fun. Big boats in calm seas are like floating docks=not much fun.

I don't have a direct answer for you, either, but I would suggest looking through the archive of design awards here at boatdesign.net

B.T.W. I like the boat posted above the best of your work posted so far. You might also look for the work of Jon Bannenberg at http://www.oceanfast.com.au/default2.htm
and check out some of the yachts built by German yards like Lurssen and Blohm & Voss.

My guess would be about
dollars = 5*(length in feet^3)
for a new build. A little less second hand. That's definitely a guess, and a broker who handles boats like this would be able to give you a more informed answer.

The best yacht?

Try HM Yacht Brittannia, stolen by the Labour Party of Great Britain, from the Monarchy!

A hard cover book titled FEADSHIPS has every modern Dutch yacht builders best efforts. They almost justify being a drug dealer to afford one. Now I wish I had been born wealthy, after seeing them.

One of the best is for me the "ABDUL AZIZ"

Length O.A. = 147.00 m
Depth to 7th deck = 19.35 m

Designed by Maierform s.r.l., Geneva, Trieste, Bremen

Isn't the answer to this, "the one I own"? (or built)

Me? I like most things old school. The original Britannia was a thing of beauty. The still sailing J-Class boats make you smile.

Give me Gerrie Dykstra, Andre Hoek today.

Old days? You have loads to chose from. S&S, Fife designs etcetcetc.

That said the Mumm 30 is mean, lean and fierce but you ain't gonna go cruising round the West Coast Of Scotland on it.

Then again just pick Wooden Boat mag and see dozen of yachts that make you want to trade the wife in.

ps Abdul Aziz is a heap of...

Big ain't beautiful in this case.
