What is a Halibut Schooner

    Looking for a good description of a halibut schooner. What are the essential elements that identify a Halibut Schooner?thanks Schooner

    It is a schooner loaded with a cargo of halibut, often distinguished by the smell of halibut;)

    Or it might be a schooner rigged sailing vessel from which one fishes for the mighty Halibut!

    I sailed on just such a vessel in the mid 1980's, she is a steel Tom Colvin designed Pinky Schooner. We longlined halibut in the Hecate Strait out of Prince Rupert, BC. It was fun.....sometimes!

    There is a good description in George Beullers book,"the troller yacht",unfortunatly i lent my copy to a friend so cant quote.
