Wave piercing university project! please help

I am a 4th year Transportation Design student at Northumbria University in Newcastle Upon Tyne. For my final project I am wanting to design a 50ft motor cruiser for the marine leisure market. But the twist is I want to use a wave piercing hull instead of the classic v-hull… This design should mean that the vessel is more seaworthy and able to make rough seas more comfortable for the users. This will add a new type of craft to the lower end of the super yacht market. Please could you answer some questions of mine to help me summarise what people (boaters) expect to be incorporated into a design like this! I am mainly focusing on the exterior and deck layout!

Q1: How many occupants should be accommodated for?



Q2: What luxuries should the craft be equipped with? (Jacuzzi, freezer, multimedia centre, broadband, etc)



Q3: how fast should it go?



Q4: Where should the seating and sunbathing decks be situated?




Q5: How much should a craft like this cost (in GB pounds)?



Q6: Do you think having this style of hull would interest consumers?




Q7: If you were in the position to buy one of these vessels would you be interested in this style of concept?




Q8: What drawbacks do you think I might face when designing this boat?

OK let me fill out the questionaire...

Q1 i would not go for the max bedding
Q2 a yaccuzi on a small mono may be to much
Q3 plm. 20/30 knts against what gas
Q4 topsides, i dont like tanning studio's
Q5 have to see a plan first as it can vary a lot
Q6 what type of wavepiercing hull
Q7 cant spend nor judge what i havent seen
Q8 you may suffer a mousewrist setback

SO perhaps better we look at some roughs first?

I know you probably have to do the questionnaire as part of the project, but have a look around at some other 50 footers, and make a few judgements. For example, it can't cost too much more than a current 50 footer or no-one will buy it. If you have a central hull and two sponsons, sunbathing won't be a problem, and you could almost have a standard helm and saloon if you arrange it cleverly.

Your major problems with this boat will be stability and fitting everything in. If you want to make full use of the wave-piercing, you've got to keep the waterline beam (and weight) to a minimum. These will be much greater problems than fitting engines and tanks etc.
