Wake vice speed

Can anyone remind me of the formula that calculates the wake-wave measurement (crest to crest) in relation to speed - I recall that the ratio remains the same regardless of the vessel size.
Many thanks

Lambda = 2 * pi *U^2 / g

where Lambda is the wavelength of "pure" transverse waves, and g = 9.80665 metres/sec/sec if U is in metres/sec.
