Use Large Plastic Pipe In design

Does anybody never seen a boat design that use large (18"-24") pipe as collar in RIB style boat.

I think about Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) pipe or other one

Someone said to me that he saw this type of design before (10 years ?) in a magazine but he dont remenber which.

What do you think about that?

It being a pipe, it suggests it's produced straight. You can't bend a FRP pipe!!
But it's possible to produce it in the shape of the hull, in that case it's much cheaper to change the design of the hull and get ride of the pipe.
